Hump-day is through this week. And it has been a long week already. Not in a bad way, just busy.
Work has been pretty long this week. You know how some weeks there seems like you have more stuff to do than you have hours in the day? This has been one of them. I'm not complaining -- in fact, it is much better to have too much to do than to have too little. It does make the day go by faster. But sometimes it seems like a little too fast.
I found out today that one of the guys on my bowling team is in jail again. He went to jail last year because he got drunk and picked a fight with an off-duty police officer outside a bar. This time, it seems he got drunk and got into a fight with someone and ended up breaking their ankle. Now, I'm not the type of person that usually associates with many people who spend significant times in jail, but this guy obviously has a drinking problem. The worst part of it is that he is my next door neighbor as well! So I called up dad today and asked him if he could sub for bowling on our team for at least the rest of this year.
We are hiring an intern at work and I am going to be the person that is responsible for him. We interviewed him on Monday and he seems like he will be pretty good. For me, it is a good thing because now I will have a "slave". A lot of the projects I do require some legwork or a lot of details that sometimes I feel like I can't do as good of a job on as I should. This is mostly related to the number of things I have been assigned versus the amount of working hours available. About half my time is spent in meetings, and a lot of times it can be a challenge to really get into depth on any project when you have to be constantly interrupted every couple of hours for various meetings or having to put out fires for other people. So with the intern there to pick up a little of the tedious work, I can focus on some of the more pressing projects. He will benefit from getting work experience and learning a lot about what we do.
I have been to the gym a couple of times already this week. I am really trying to get back into going as regularly as possible. It seems like every time I get into a good routine of going consistently, I end up traveling. Then I get out of my rhythm and it becomes easier to make excuses not to go. But I have felt really good about it this week. I was not able to go today because I didn't get out of work until 5:30 and Jaime wanted us to go up to Price Chopper to pick up some food for her jewelry party that she is having tomorrow night. That is the reason that I end up missing most often - I get out of work late and I know that I still need to cook dinner, so I have to decide whether or not it is worth it to go to the gym or to have to eat dinner really late. I know that it is not a great excuse, but it does end up happening. Jaime says I should set a small goal, like I should go at least 2 times a week to start. I always try to set a higher goal, so maybe that is why I fall off the wagon. She has been paying the gym fees the past few months, but I paid them this time. I know it is all the same money, but for some psychological reason if I pay for it myself it seems like it puts more pressure on me to go.
So I have bowling tomorrow night while Jaime has her party (thankfully I won't need to hang around here for that). On Friday night we are going to go for dinner at the lodge with our friend Lori. Saturday we are going to go to Burlington. Jaime is going to host a card making party at her friend Karen's house. This should actually net her some money because she is charging people to attend, and it is not going to be a sales thing. I'm going to hang out with Jason and play their Wii. We're going to get dinner that night. Hopefully the weather will be agreeable.
Speaking of weather, a small part of me does want it to snow more so I can try out my new snow-blower .

Whoa you WANT to use the snowblower!? That probably won't last long once it starts to snow a lot ;).
I am on a diet and going to the Gym too. It's called The Abs Diet-have you heard of it? It is a book, and it makes an exercise plan for you, which entails a lot of strength training-because muscle eats fat. It shows you ways to do things at the gym and at home. It has you eating 6 times a day, and has a list of the Power 12 foods that you should always incorporate into your meals and snacks. I like it so far. People seem to get really good results.

I would think that all that Korean food would make you lose weight anyway! Thanks for the tip.
