First big snow

We got our first big snow last night.  We must have gotten about 8-10" or so I would guess.  I busted out the snowblower first thing this morning.  Jaime got to sleep in because she got the phone call this morning that school was canceled.  I went out to the shed, added some gas, and it started on the first pull.  I was pretty happy with it.  Why hadn't I ever gotten one of these before?  It was about a hundred times easier to clear the driveway that it is to do it by hand.  Thanks Grandpa!

Yesterday we went out to Troy.  Phil had gotten four tickets to the church lunch and raffle and asked us if we wanted to go for lunch.  Although we would not get the money if our ticket was pulled for the raffle.  So, thinking it would be a free, quick meal, we went.  Big mistake.  The food was just OK and there wasn't too much of it.  The thing that grossed us out was that the old men that were serving the food were taking bites with the serving spoons and then still using them to dole out the food.  That grossed out Jaime more than it did me, but I didn't see them doing it.  So we ate all our food in about 10 minutes.  Then we had to sit there for about another hour and a half waiting for the drawing.  There was also a contest for baked goods.  A bunch of people submitted desserts and you could bid on them.  The highest bid would win the dessert, and then they gave out prizes for the highest bid of any of them, and also the one that was deemed the most attractive.  There was one old lady who must have really wanted to give money to the church.  She kept bidding up on all of the desserts.  I think the winning entry went for like $51!  Well, she ended up winning a lot of them and must have dropped quite a few bucks.  Phil did win one of the $25 drawings, so I guess he got a little of the money back.  Anyway, the whole thing took a lot longer than we had though, so luckily we didn't have much else planned for the day.
